We didn't think this could happen to someone so young in our family. We have lost grandmother, mother, aunt, and sister in their fifties to cancer.

At 25 years old, my cousin Dawnica, at the prime of her life, is also now battling with this awful disease.

Dawnica is a hardworking mom living in Barbados who should be preparing to celebrate her son's milestones in life.

Late September 2024, she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, which explained the several months of uncertainty, excruciating headaches, and episodes of losing consciousness while doing everyday things we take for granted.

On October 4, 2024, Dawnica had a series of severe seizures which resulted in her being placed on life support for over 2 weeks. She is now breathing on her own but is still facing serious medical challenges which need to be addressed urgently.

Without insurance or financial resources to afford the extensive treatment not available locally, we are asking our community to donate to Dawnica's recovery.

Dawnica is resilient, and she continues to push through often without complaining.

She hasn't given up and we don't plan to either. No amount is too small. Dawnica needs to commence chemotherapy as early as this upcoming week with one dose of medication costing $5k.
