Help Dawna fight stage 4 Cancer
Donation protected
My cousin, Dawna Snow, has received the terrible news that the cancer she overcame in 2023 has spread to her lungs and is stage 4. Dawna is a mother of two, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a friend to many. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and fought through with many awful side effects. In June 2023, she was considered cancer-free. However, on January 4, 2024 Dawna and her family received devastating news that her cancer had returned. Her CT scan shows that her previous cancer spread to her lungs. She is now back on the path of fighting so that she can continue to be the wonderful mother that she is. As Dawna fights, she and her family need financial support to carry them through as they travel and pay for various out-of-pocket treatments to help shrink and destroy the cancer. This will also help them as Dawna will be unable to return to work for some time, and this will allow Darrell to take time off work when needed. Please consider donating to help Dawna, her husband Darrell, and their two children Finnlee and Sienna as they once again go down this hard road to recovery.
Dawna’s Cancer Story:
A few months after the birth of her second child in October 2022, Dawna was diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal cancer. Symptoms included neck pain and hearing loss in her left ear. She started on inductive chemotherapy prior to Christmas last year. In January 2023 through March 2023, she continued with more chemo and seven weeks of radiation five days a week in Kelowna.
Treatment was hard on her body, but she continued to fight through the hardest days. Due to radiation, she lost her taste for food, had severe mouth sores, and the hearing in her right ear was diminished. The five rounds of radiation was so brutal that she required a feeding tube to get enough calories. Chewing and swallowing remained so painful for her that she continued with the feeding tube a couple months after treatment was finished. Since March she has been going through a recovery process to be able to eat normally again. Ear tubes have helped to restore much of her hearing.
In June 2023 everyone was so thankful to hear that her scan showed she was cancer free! Dawna was feeling stronger and doing better and her eating was almost back to normal by December. Before Christmas, her follow-up MRI showed no cancer activity in that area.
The family was feeling confident and hopeful, which makes this new finding of cancer in her lungs a devastating blow to her and her family, especially after receiving the clear MRI only a few weeks earlier. She will be getting a PET scan in February to learn more and determine future treatment plans.
Currently Dawna is undergoing some out-of-pocket treatments to try to address this cancer and this go-fund-me campaign is to support Dawna and her family in those endeavors and for travel expenses associated with those.
During her previous treatment there were so many people who provided support from driving Dawna to Kelowna for radiation five days a week, to helping babysit the kids, and providing meals. As Dawna, Darrell and their family prepare to re-enter the battlefield, I am here asking for your support.
Please consider donating to Dawna and her family so that they may seek all the appropriate treatments and reduce financial stress during this time. They would also appreciate your prayers. The family is so thankful for all who have already helped in various ways. I hope that Dawna may be healed without any unnecessary stressors. Dawna is in good spirits and prepared to fight, thank you to all in advance for your support of her and her family.
