Help Dawn Tucek Fight Brain Cancer
Dawn was diagnosed with Stage 1 triple negative invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer on 11/9/2020. She defeated the odds and received wonderful news on December 6, 2021 that chemotherapy, surgery and radiation treatments were successful!
Unfortunately, in March of 2022, she experienced pain in her right side that wouldn’t go away and subsequently had an MRI where she was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that had spread to her spine and bone. She was doing incredibly well until March 13, 2023 where she experienced temporarily paralysis in her left arm which led to vision and arm impairments. On March 29, 2023, she went to the ER, Dawn received devasting news that her cancer had returned and metastasized to her brain. She has 50 brain lesions and at least four larger lesions that have impacted her vision and are causing arm impairments.
Dawn has compared her cancer diagnosis to a Rocky movie. She went from stage 1 bypassing 2-3 and directly to stage 4.
Full brain radiation treatment is her only option at this time to slow the progression. Dawn is a fighter and wants to defeat this devasting terminal illness. As you can imagine this has had a huge emotional, physical and financial burden to Dawn and our family.
This diagnosis has devasted our family and we are asking for your partnership so Dawn can enjoy whatever time she has left to” live in the moment” and not have to worry about paying for out of pocket medical, ongoing household and living expenses as well as supporting Dawn while she is not working.
For those of you who know Dawn personally, losing her vision has been incredibly difficult for her. She loves lights especially during the holidays where we tease her because she has to have colored blinking Christmas lights. She always has silly stories to share about herself during family gatherings and holidays and as well as her singing abilities! Dawn loves her dogs, Kenya and Rambo who know momma is sick and are taking care of her during this time. Dawn always wanted to be a veterinarian, but if she was, she would rescue and have a house full of dogs.
Our family can’t imagine life without her, any contributions, however small, are wholeheartedly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your love and support - this means the world to our family and especially Dawn!
