This page is to help raise funds for Dawn Higgins, who has in a very short period of time gone from days full of family and spoiling grandkids and her partner, who is also in poor health, to the fight for more time in her life.
Just about a month ago, Dawn found out she had to have cancerous tumors removed from her bladder. The procedure happened, and we thought everything had gone well. Before she could even have her follow-up appointment with the oncologists or urologists, she had to go to the emergency room for pain, where they found lesions on her lower lumbar spine.
After a week-long hospital stay, and blood tests, MRIs, bone scrapes, and a biopsy, she has been diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. Under normal circumstances, they (she and her "Ole man") are very independent. However, the medical bills are already starting to compile, and right now, the average out-of-pocket cost in cancer treatment is between fifteen and twenty thousand dollars a year. She can and is seeking those treatments available to her to shrink the lesions and prolong her time with her family and friends. We had to choose a goal so I went for the national average , but anything helps and We all appreciate your time and consideration.
