Help Dawn & son get oxygen therapy for long covid
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Emily and I'm helping to raise funds for my friend Dawn and her teenage son Skye to receive oxygen therapy for long covid.
Dawn is one of the most loving, giving individuals I have ever met. Before she got Covid for the first time in March 2020, Dawn was super active as a mom of two energetic boys and loved teaching and sharing her gifts in yoga, breathwork, dance, and meditation. She is truly one of the most generous, joyful women I have ever met.
Since March 2020, Dawn has suffered from severe side effects of long covid including extreme difficulty breathing, crippling fatigue, severe brain fog, heart palpitations, loss of appetite, and so much more. She has had three covid infections and the most recent in January has significantly set her back. In my last conversation with Dawn, she told me that after getting her kids off to school all she can do is return to bed and sleep most of the day. When she talks I can hear the difficulty she is having breathing. She says her lungs are burning still. Although her spirit is still bright, her body needs help. Because Dawn was in a car accident at 19 and has scar tissue in her lungs from that accident, it has been particularly hard for her body to heal from Covid.
Her son Skye has also suffered from long covid and has had 4 covid infections since March 2020, the last one being in January. He has suffered from brain fog, fatigue, depression, and anxiety. All of this has affected his social life, his ability to go to school, and his ability to play basketball which he has been on track to play at the college level.
Dawn has made so much progress by utilizing everything available to her through medical insurance, donated time from healers, and out-of-pocket, and has had the brightest spiritual outlook she could possibly have throughout. Yet they have hit roadblock after roadblock to truely get ahead with their health. Her husband has had to take unpaid time off of work to care for their kids while Dawn was too sick, and after going back to work he was also laid off. He is just back at work for the past two months but with a serious pay cut which only meets the basic family needs, not any extra medical care. Medical bills have been piling up and although Dawn feels hesitant to ask for help financially, she and her family really need and deserve our help right now.
Dawn has been telling me about the promising research around hyperbaric oxygen treatment for long covid. This treatment can go deep enough to get to the scar tissue in her lungs. It can also get to the brain to help with fatigue and brain fog. Friends in her long covid support group have seen life-changing results with this therapy. Unfortunately, while it is still in long-term study in the medical world, it is not yet covered by insurance and out-of-pocket expenses are beyond reach for Dawn and her family. Here are some articles about this treatment and its success with long covid patients:

I am asking for enough money to support Dawn to receive 40 treatments and Skye to receive 20 treatments (at $200 each) at NJ HBOT (https://oxygennj.com/). All funds will go directly toward treatment costs. Please help in any way you can.
In gratitude,
Emily
