Help Dawn recover from a heart transplant

Hi my name is Tracey, I am Dawn Babcock's sister. As a family we are asking for help with raising money to help with reoccurring medical and financial expenses.

Dawn has been dealing with heart issues since before Thanksgiving, which has entailed several hospital stays and multiple procedures. Most recently in January she was sent to Baystate hospital after another episode. Testing at that time showed her heart was only working at 30% and unfortunately the doctors had no answers on to why this was happening. Once stable, on February 5th she was transferred to the cardic ICU at Mass General in Boston. Over the next few days Dawn underwent multiple surgeries adding 2 more machines (Impella and Echmo) which did most of the work for her heart. A biopsy of the heart finally gave us an answer, however it wasn't the diagnosis anyone expected. It showed Dawn had Giant cell myocarditis (a rare viral infection which attacks the hearts tissue and cells) and the only cure is a heart transplant. Dawn received her new heart on VALENTINES DAY, a true miracle that her and our entire family will be eternal grateful for.

Her road to recovery is going to be a long one. Dawn is scheduled to be discharged on February 29th, once discharged the first year she will need to make weekly, bi-weekly, then monthly trips to Boston. The funds collected will be used for the reoccurring trips back and fourth including overnight stays for early morning appointments along with gas, tolls, any co-pays for appointments or medications. Money will also be applied to help cover her daily living expenses and bills as she is excepted to be out of work for an unknown amount of time. The last thing she should have to worry about is losing her apartment, especially with this horrible housing crisis. Anyone who knows Dawn knows she has always been a hard worker, is very independent and hates asking for help however she is the first to offer help to anyone.
