Help Dawn Recover After Major Health and Housing Challenges

Hello! We are Alexis and Samantha Riley, and we’re reaching out on behalf of our mom, Dawn. Over the past few years, she has shown incredible resilience while facing a series of tough challenges.

Unfortunately, our mom has just faced another major setback: after a failed angioplasty, we learned she needs open heart surgery — a triple Coronary Artery Bypass (CABG) procedure on May 15. While we’re grateful this was discovered in time, the surgery and lengthy recovery will bring significant financial and emotional challenges on top of everything she’s already overcome.

After losing her home to Hurricane Ian in 2022, she worked tirelessly to get back on her feet, only to be displaced again in 2024 when her new home suffered hurricane damage from Milton. Unfortunately, she became ill from mold toxicity, and her landlord refused to make repairs, forcing Dawn to move once more.

Throughout all of this, she has been navigating the complex FEMA appeals process, advocating for the support she needs to rebuild her life, all while managing multiple chronic health conditions, including diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and now open heart surgery.

As many of you know, insurance doesn't come close to covering all of the costs from these procedures and resulting time out of work. Unfortunately, life doesn’t stop moving just because you’re sick. We’re seeking support to help go towards Dawn’s medical expenses, cardiac rehab, and physical therapy during her recovery.
