About a year ago, Dawn’s life changed in ways none of us could have imagined. She was diagnosed with stage 5 kidney failure and congestive heart failure, and since then, every day has been a fight to stay strong and keep moving forward.

Dawn is now on the transplant list, holding onto hope for the life-saving call that could give her a second chance. While she has not had any hospital stays, her journey has still been incredibly demanding. She has undergone procedures, including the placement of a port for dialysis, and continues to receive ongoing care and monitoring.

Her treatment currently requires frequent visits to the University of Maryland to prepare for transplant-related procedures and ongoing care. Once dialysis begins, these appointments will become even more frequent, along with regular treatments and continued medical monitoring. All of these visits are essential to keeping her stable and ensuring she is ready for a successful transplant—but they also come with significant costs.

The financial burden of medical bills, treatments, medications, and travel for these appointments has quickly become overwhelming. Dawn is doing everything she can to stay strong, but she shouldn’t have to carry this weight alone.
