Feb 10th after the gym, Kona & I went on our normal every morning walk before work. We were 5 mins from our driveway when out of no where, we were attacked & mauled by a black & white Pit bull. We were walking and all of a sudden I saw this dog coming for us & I knew immediately it was coming for Kona. I grabbed Kona & lifted him high & started screaming for help. Kona was trying to get away and that pitbull launched at us and grabbed Kona in its mouth. I immediately went into fight mode to save my boy. Screaming for help while hitting the dog and trying to get Kona out of his mouth. I fell on the concrete with both dogs, I put my hand in its mouth to pry it off Kona while hitting it on the head with my other hand. Kona got lose & then then I was hitting & screaming. It bit my fingers, then launched & bit my arm. I was creaming for help and then still covering to protect Kona. An older lady neighbor ran out of her house to help. While we were trying to cover Kona & get the dog away. She picked Kona up to run towards her house and said follow her. The pitbull than ran around & jumped on her as well and she fell on the concrete & the dog bit her arm as well. Kona got lose & took off running to our house. The pitbull ran after him. I was screaming bloody murder for help, while trying to run towards my house to save Kona. By then more neighbors were running to help us. The pitbull had Kona cornered in our driveway and Kona was ducking by the front door when I ran up screaming at the dog to get away. By then my male neighbor heard and came running out with a stick & we got the dog away from us. He called 911, ambulance, animal control & police were there in 5 mins. It was one of scariest moments I have ever encountered.

I was rushed to the hospital & my sister Bridget rushed Kona to the Vet for me. The pitbull was not on a leash & we still do not know whose dog it is. As you can see my injuries are horrific but they could have been worse. I didn’t even realize he also bit my leg. Kona was rushed into surgery for a laceration to his jaw & a laceration to his lip but he is alive & will recover. I am so grateful to my neighbors & family ❤️
