Dawn, my adult daughter, has been through an incredibly difficult time recently. She suffered a complete tear of her ACL while riding her dirt bike two months ago and now needs ACL reconstruction surgery using a cadaver ligament. To make matters worse, just two days ago, she was in a car accident when a young driver ran a red light and totaled her car. The other driver did not have insurance or a license, leaving Dawn without transportation and with even more stress on her shoulders.

Dawn is a fiscally responsible person who has always managed her finances carefully. She is also the type of person who would go without so that someone else in need could have help. The hospital and doctor are requiring a significant payment upfront before they will perform the surgery, and while her insurance should cover the rest, coming up with this amount has been overwhelming. Dawn has already spent two months in pain and physical therapy, and her knee is nearly dislocated at this point. She is in a lot of pain and many nights has cried herself to sleep, unsure of how she will get through this.

Dawn did not want to ask for help, but as her mother, I felt it was important to reach out to our community.
