Help Dawn Beat Pancreatic Cancer

Donation protected
I am raising money to help my daughter, Dawn Siebel (age 51) to live, to continue blessing us with her presence, and to beat pancreatic cancer.

On March 15th, 2021 Dawn drove herself to an Emergency Room (ER) in extreme abdominal pain and was diagnosed on March 16th, 2021 with Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma, a cancer considered to be very aggressive. Eighteen (18) months later and despite Whipple surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, the cancer has returned, and, as such, Dawn needs to pursue alternative treatments outside the United States – all of which are unfortunately very expensive – to have a fighting chance to beat this cancer. Without financial assistance, pursuing international options will not be possible.

For those of you who would like more insight into her journey over the past 18 months, please read on.

After arriving at the emergency room (ER) on March 15th, 2021, Dawn was admitted and only sent home 7 ½ weeks later. During her stay in the hospital several CT scans, blood work, and ultrasounds were done which helped the doctors determine there was a problem in her pancreas and that her liver was highly inflamed. On March 16th they put a stent into her bile duct to ease the strain on her liver and it was during that procedure that the doctors did a biopsy and determined she had Pancreatic cancer.

Things moved very quickly after Dawn’s diagnosis. On March 26, 2021, she had Whipple surgery where they removed part of her pancreas, part of her stomach, her gall bladder, the bile duct, and the first part of her small intestine (duodenum). During the surgery, the doctors learned that the cancer had spread to three (3) of the lymph nodes as well as the wall of her small intestine. Unfortunately, when the pathology reports came back, she found out the doctors did not get a clean margin in the remainder of her pancreas.

Dawn began chemotherapy in June of 2021 and endured that until late February 2022. The doctors then gave her a few weeks off to regain some strength before starting six (6) weeks of daily radiation and chemotherapy simultaneously. After two weeks of the combined treatment, Dawn was so sick that they stopped the chemotherapy but continued the radiation. Finally, on May 4, 2022, Dawn completed the radiation.

Dawn thought, I thought, everyone thought, everything was going well until August 16, 2022, when Dawn’s doctor ordered some bloodwork. The results showed the cancer was back. A full-body PET scan was ordered immediately. The PET scan showed cancer in the remaining part of her pancreas and some suspicious spots in her lungs.

Since Dawn’s cancer is considered very aggressive it is important for her to be treated using every possible method. When we researched treatment options it became clear that was have exhausted treatment options in the US and that for her to beat this cancer she will need to travel to Mexico, where the doctors use integrative medicine. This means they will use regular treatments like chemotherapy and radiation, which destroy the healthy cells as well as the cancer cells COMBINED with several treatments to detoxify her body and rebuild her immune system, so her body is stronger and able to fight and beat the cancer.

My daughter is an incredible person, loving daughter, friend, confidante, animal lover, and, above all else, she is a woman of courage - in a fight for her life. Anyone who has spent time in Dawn’s company feels treasured, recognized, and inspired. She has a heart of gold and goes out of her way to help others, from life-long friends and family members to those she has just met. You will meet her once and be impacted forever. She is always helping others and now, for the first time in her life, she is doing one of the bravest things I’ve known her to do – she is asking for help.

Your help is so important. This treatment comes at a hefty starting price. Being outside the USA, Dawn will need to cover this in full. Please partner with us to ensure she is able to obtain this potentially life-saving treatment, follow-up care, and help with household/living expenses while she undergoes treatment. We appreciate any financial gift, big or small - it will mean the world to her! 100% of your donation will do directly to Dawn’s fight. We will keep you updated as details emerge.

Please share Dawn’s story. Thank you for your love and support!
