Hi! I am making this for my friend Dawda. I met him through a facebook group for our love for gardening. We quickly became great friends! He has taught me so much about gratitude and hard work. I am making this GoFundMe for Dawda. 100% of anything donated will go directly to Dawda and his family. GoFundMe takes out a very small fee and I have been able to cover the western union fees.
Hi my name is Dawda. I am 22 years old. I live in Gambia, the smiling west coast of Africa. I lost my father as a little boy so I am the man of the house. I have a mother and two younger sisters that I must provide for. I worked as a tailor for 4 years making European and African style clothing. I wasn’t getting paid at all since I was just training, even though I brought in a lot of money. My mom became very sick and I still wasn’t getting paid. That day I left the tailoring job and I started my garden. The money I made from my garden saved my mom! Luckily, by the Grace of God my mom survived. My garden is a ways from my home and I must walk there every day to tend to my garden. Sometimes pests or the hot sun hurt my plants and I have to start all over. I’m still thankful to God for providing me with my garden. I work on my garden a lot but I also help out my community in different ways. I recently helped dig the community toilet and shared pictures of that below.
The problem is I have some teeth that need to be pulled and I simply don’t have a way to make enough money to get them taken care of. Sometimes I’m stuck in bed or I’m up late in pain because of my teeth. I can’t be stuck in bed because then I can’t get to my garden. My mom has traditional medicine that helps cool my sore teeth but I really need a dentist to work on them. I also hope to be able to buy a foundation where we can have our own house and a garden right next to it. I would love to have enough money where I can start a business here that my sisters can run. That way they will be able to support themselves and create a great life for them. I thank God for anyone who takes the time to read this message about my life and also so thankful to anyone who wants to donate to me.
