Help Davis and his family keep his home of over 25 years.
Davis is a beloved custodian at an Elementary school in Minneapolis who is the first person to show up to work everyday.
Davis lives with his wife Evangeline and their son, David. David has Autism, and I have watched Davis go home every day near the beginning of his shift to make sure David is on routine and on schedule, before coming back to school to finish his shift.
2020 has dealt his family an impossible blow on top of how it has affected all of us. His wife had to deal with a life threatening illness and was forced to spend time recovering from major surgery. As a result, Evangeline lost her job, and the family was left to depend on Davis’ income solely. They fell behind on the mortgage payments without Evagenline's income.
Davis tried to work with his bank to do a loan modification, only to find out they sold their mortgage to an investment company. The company is trying to sell their house, and if not for the intervention of the Minnesota Attorney General’s office, they would have sold it already.
The only alternative to the company selling his home of over 25 years is for Davis to come up with 33,000 dollars by May.
This is lot of money and a huge ask, and I don’t know if it is realistic, but I can only try.
I am a Social Worker at the School Davis works at. I see how hard he works every day, and on top of all that - he always has time for the kids. I remember watching a child with Autism, who found no comfort in any aspect of school except for the ride on Davis’s “Zamboni” floor cleaning machine, finally calm down and actually enjoy school the times he was on the “Zamboni”. Davis is the one who would make time for the child everyone else was trying to avoid.
Davis has lived in this house for over 25 years, and was married in this house. Help him keep his house!.
