Help Davion Avoid Homelessness & Become a Nurse
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Davion Williams, and I recently graduated from Haverford College in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, where I still live today.
In July 2024, I tragically lost my brother to suicide. Since then, I’ve taken on full financial responsibility for myself. To pursue my dream of becoming a nurse like my brother, who worked at Jefferson Hospital, I returned to school in January 2025 at the Community College of Philadelphia.
This spring semester, I successfully completed Anatomy and Physiology I, Microbiology, and Introduction to Statistics—key prerequisites for Drexel University's Accelerated BSN program. This would not have been possible without the help of all of you! My brother’s work as a nurse inspired me deeply, and I am determined to follow in his footsteps. Despite everything, I am committed to making him proud by continuing to pursue my nursing education. I will not give up!
This summer semester, I will be returning to the Community College of Philadelphia to study Anatomy and Physiology II and Introduction to Nutrition—the last two prerequisites required to apply to Drexel University's Accelerated BSN program.
In addition to my studies, I work per diem as a Radiology File Clerk at Temple University Hospital, picking up as many shifts as I can. However, despite my efforts, I’m still struggling to meet my financial needs and am now facing food insecurities. I have applied to clinical research positions and various other jobs throughout the city to try to obtain a full-time job now that my academic schedule is more flexible.
I am currently behind on May’s rent and have a PECO electricity bill of $840.08. Together, these total $2,340, and I have been asked by my landlord to vacate by the end of this month to avoid late fees and legal action. Furthermore, I was informed by my leasing office that they will not be renewing my lease for an additional year, which was unexpected and has caught me by surprise. My lease ends at the end of June, which means that at the end of June, I am at risk of being homeless.
Now, I am currently scrambling to find a new apartment and secure housing so that I can have the stability to continue being successful.
I have a kitten named Leo and a tortoise named Saturn, and losing my home will not only affect me but also put their well-being in jeopardy. I’m desperate to find a new home and continue to take care of my pets. Any help or advice you can offer would mean the world to me.
Right now, I’m feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about the future, but I’m doing everything I can to stay on track with my education and work. If you can help in any way, I would be forever grateful.
Fundraising Goal Breakdown:
Rent for May & PECO Bill: $2,340
New Housing (first/last month's rent + security deposit): $4,000
Food Insecurities: $1,000
Pet Care & School-Related Expenses: $3,000
Total Goal: $10,340
This amount will help me cover the rent for my current apartment, secure a new home, purchase food, and cover essential expenses for my pets and my education. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in helping me stay on track with my studies, secure stable housing, and continue working toward my dream of becoming a nurse.
No contribution is too small, and your support will mean more than words can express. Thank you for standing with me as I work toward a brighter future, not just for myself, but for those I care about deeply. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my story, and for donating and sharing.
With love and hugs,
Davion
