This is the only way I know how to help my best friend and his family. David Jones was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal adenocarcinoma (bad cancer). This may end up being Stage 4, but he can't afford the test to find out if it has metastasized to his lungs.
Soon after diagnosis, he was downsized from his job. He was the sole breadwinner in the house. Even with his wife trying to find work, they have very little savings, possibly only enough to last into January. They also have 2 children living at home, one who is autistic.
This man is a Navy Veteran. He served for 8 years as a hospital corpsman. He fought for our country only to be let down by the VA and told that it may be up to a year before he can start treatments. That, of course, would be too late for him.
So far, he has undergone 2 chemotherapy treatments, with 4 more to go. After that, there will be 6 weeks of radiation EVERY DAY, with possible surgery looming. MD Anderson Cancer Center has been doing all they can to help cover some of the treatments, but not everything. And this still leaves things like bills, groceries, and basic necessities.
You could not ask for a nicer man or a nicer family. Dave would literally give you the shirt off his back if it meant someone else wouldn't freeze. Now it's our turn to give him back enough for his family to survive throughout his treatment.
I know times are hard, but every dollar counts. If you can't donate, can you please share this? Share it with friends and family. Share it on social media. Share it with Veteran groups so they can help their own. Thank you so much for your time in reading this. I hope you are blessed.
