My name is Davide, and I’m reaching out for help with my February rent. I am disabled and immunocompromised, and this winter has been especially difficult. I’ve had to go to the emergency room every week for severe infections related to my condition. On top of my health challenges, I recently lost my benefits because DTA counted my seasonal job—which is now over—and a past grant paid directly to my landlord against my income. Right now, my income is very limited, and I am struggling to cover my rent.
Receiving help with my rent would mean I can stay in my home, continue to make my queer art, organize with my community, and stay with my cat, which is a huge source of comfort for me. It would relieve some of the stress I’ve been carrying and give me the time I need to keep applying for jobs and going to interviews. I’m also close to a final decision on my SSDI application, and your support would help me get through this critical period.
These times are so hard for everyone, especially for my BIPOC and unhoused friends and neighbors who are also trying to survive in this world with disability. I would always prioritize helping my community if I wasn’t in such a difficult position, so I do what I can do. It is my hope that any donation you make to me, that you match your donation to a Black, Indigenous or Person of Color’s GoFundMe. We are stronger as a community when we take care of each other. I am truly grateful that you took the time to read my story. Any support you can offer would make a real difference in my life. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
