Help David With Auto-Immune Medical Bills

I am writing this on behalf of my son David. This is something he has kept secret to many, but he is opening up now because he could use your help. Those of you who know David are aware of how athletic he is and his love to skate and play hockey. For 27 and 1/2 years he was a very active, healthy young man and then along came Covid. In March 2021 he had a routine exam and blood work. His platelet count was very, very low and they were not clumping. This means you are at great risk for uncontrolled bleeding. The condition is an auto-immune disorder called Immune Thrombocytopenia. As a mom this is something that terrifies me as I constantly worry of something happening to him resulting in bleeding. Doctors believe it is among several disorders that are a result of Covid. A low platelet count comes with massive fatigue, something that has affected him greatly day to day. Also due to the nature of this disorder David has not been able to play hockey for close to a year now. He will not be able to safely pay again unless treatment for his disorder works. So far none have. He's spent countless hours hooked up to IV's receiving infusions to treat the problem, however nothing seems to have kept his platelet count up. Due to the type of treatment he needs to receive, insurance only partially covers the bill. There is another form of treatment David will begin this month, but like the rest it is also quite costly. This fundraiser is being created to help cover past and future medical bills for David in hopes that if he gets the treatment he needs so he can get back to his normal way of life. Thank you so much.
