Help David Wilcox Recover from Hit and Run
Donation protected
One of every avid cyclist's worst nightmares happened to our friend David on December 6th, 2022.
A motorist who was having severe road rage, ran over David's leg as he was attempting to get off the road and out of their way. The driver doubled back and tried to hit David again head-on after he'd tried to ride around the neighborhood looking for the car after the driver sped away.
This was a hit-and-run incident. The Oakland Police Department has been less than helpful - there isn't much chance of catching the offending driver.
After x-rays and an MRI, it was revealed that the incident left David with a severely fractured tibial plateau in his right leg. His next check-in with his care team at Kaiser in Oakland, CA is on 1/26, where he may or may not be cleared to start bearing weight on his right leg, start physical therapy, and begin the rest of the healing process.
Unable to work from home, this unexpected accident has depleted David's savings. Temporary disability insurance is currently 'denied' due to a clerical issue with his doctor's office so money is quickly becoming an issue.
The funds raised here will be used to help support David as he starts to recover from his injuries.
If you know THE WILCOX you know how important he is to our lives and the communities we collectively share with him. We are lucky he is alive. Please help our friend get through a very difficult few months while he is healing.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out to him, and offered meals, food, and company! THIS MEANS A LOT!!! We will continue posting updates as they come in.
