Dear friends,
I kindly invite you to join me in supporting David Welch as he faces the challenge of his second bout with cancer. Let’s come together to help him secure the funds he desperately needs to start his treatment. Your compassion and generosity can make a real difference in his fight for health. Thank you for considering this important cause.
In 2017, my dear friend David Welch received news that none of us could have anticipated. At a time when he should have been enjoying life in his late 40s, he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Rather than letting it defeat him, David chose to fight bravely against this formidable foe. Over the course of his harrowing treatment, I witnessed the toll it took on his body, and I couldn't help but pray for his recovery. Remarkably, David continued to work through it all, refusing to let cancer define him. His unwavering spirit and positive attitude carried him through those dark days, and the moment he achieved full remission was nothing short of a celebration.
Though we don’t communicate frequently, I found myself missing him this morning and felt compelled to reach out. I’m so glad I did. Our simple text message turned into a heartfelt phone call. After sharing the usual pleasantries, David opened up about how down he’s been feeling lately. It broke my heart to learn that his Multiple Myeloma has returned.
The good news is that his numbers aren’t as high as they were during his first battle because this was caught much earlier. I cautiously expressed optimism, hoping that perhaps he wouldn’t have to endure the same brutal regimen as before. Unfortunately, I learned that the treatment process remains unchanged—he faces four more months of heavy chemotherapy, regardless of his initial numbers.
As I tried to reassure him that he can overcome this again, I felt the weight of his fears. Having to start over is daunting, especially considering how grueling the journey had been before. But there was a darker cloud looming over this situation. David’s insurance is not as generous this time, and the financial burden of his treatment is overwhelming. He now faces thousands of dollars out of pocket just to initiate his MRI and other necessary tests.
With the aggressive nature of the cancer, time is of the essence—he needs to begin treatment immediately, but that requires funds upfront, and again when his deductible resets in January. It’s heartbreaking to think that a staggering $12,000 could stand between him and the life-saving care he desperately needs.
Many in the DFW Direct Marketing Industry know David well; he’s been a dedicated and kind presence in our professional community for years. He embodies the best qualities of a devoted husband, father, friend, and grandfather, and his warmth has touched so many lives.
If you know me, you’ll understand that my feelings toward cancer are deeply tumultuous—I HATE it for what it has taken from so many, including my beloved father. I wish I could donate the funds David needs myself; unfortunately, I cannot. However, I believe that if we all come together, we can help him reach that crucial $12,000 goal. This amount will enable him to meet his deductible and commence treatment without delay, as well as prepare him for the costs that will arise again in January.
Please, contribute what you can—no amount is too small. And I ask that you share this Go Fund Me with others, especially those who know and care about David.
Let’s rally around David Welch and show him the love and support he deserves. ❤️
