Hi everyone, we are David’s family, and we are organizing this fundraiser to help him through a critical surgery happening this Friday 21/02/2025.
For a couple years, David has been battling Ulcerative Colitis (UC) and the complications that came with it.
In 2021 he underwent a subtotal colectomy and ileostomy, but instead of relief, his health struggles have only intensified.
A Long and Difficult Journey...
Since his initial surgery, David has endured four emergency surgeries, each one a fight to keep going. Now, he is dealing with:
- A large parastomal hernia that continues to grow, causing severe pain and discomfort.
- Recurring ulcerations around his stoma, making daily life incredibly painful.
- Frequent bowel obstructions, leading to intense nausea and distress.
- Open wounds around his herniated Stoma sight that refuse to heal.
Despite his resilience, these ongoing complications have taken a significant toll on his physical and mental health.
What is Ileorectal Anastomosis (IRA) Surgery?
David’s upcoming Ileorectal Anastomosis (IRA) surgery is a major procedure designed to reconnect his small intestine (ileum) to his rectum. This would allow him to no longer require a stoma (ostomy bag) and help restore a more natural digestive function. The goal is to reduce his ongoing complications, prevent further emergency surgeries, and drastically improve his quality of life so he can get back to doing what he loves doing most that is keeping an active lifestyle.
Why David Needs Support
While this surgery offers a better future, the financial burden is overwhelming. The costs of post hospital stays, post-operative care at home, and time off work while juggling the cost of living create a significant challenge and a lot of extra stress for David and our family.
How You Can Help
We are asking for support to help cover:
✅ Post Surgery and Post hospital expenses
✅ Recovery and follow-up care
✅ Living costs while David is in Recovery and heals
