Help David's recovery and home transport

Dear Donors, We're heart-broken to let you know that David left us on the 22th May. On the request of the family, we closed the fundraising. We're very grateful to all the support you gave us.
David left to work as a kite surf instructor in the Dominican Republic. The pandemic came, his home travel became harder and decided to stay longer there until the virus passes.
He started to practice breathing techniques in a pool in order to perform free diving later in the open sea when the quarantine period is over. It was just another practice day with his friends when the accident happened. His friends noticed that David was underwater for too long, he lost his consciousness. They saved him, reanimated him and called the ambulance. He was put in artificial coma to slow down his body and a ventilator helped his respiration artificially which at this point was at a 25% capacity.
David is still unconscious and is under treatment, he is producing good results and slowly he will be brought back from the coma. The hospital charged the family an initial deposit of 4500 EUR and later a second amount of 23 000 EUR to cover his ongoing treatment. The insurance company refused to cover his costs. His family is from Hungary where the average wages are around 800 EUR, to meet the costs of the treatment and recovery is very difficult for them. With the help of the local consulate, they contacted a lawyer as well, who is giving a hand with overlooking the hospital costs and making sure he is protected.
His family started this fund raising in order to cover
- his medical costs in the Dominican Republic
- his home travel
- the legal fees of the lawyer
- and later his rehabilitation
We're very grateful for any help coming from any direction. We'll keep the project updated with the details of the David's recovery. He's a strong young guy and we hope the best.

Who are we?
The fundraiser team is a group of four: David's brother Zoltan, his sister-in-law Agneta, my husband Miklos and myself Anna. We are close friends, the guys went through most of their sport adventures together from a very young age. The reason why we initiated the fundraiser in their name is because GoFundMe is not an active platform in Hungary while it is in Spain where we currently live. To support the family we decided to take over the dealing with the financial matters related to his treatment. We will be withdrawing the funds and transferring them to the hospital, to the lawyer and later to the family in Hungary when his rehabilitation start. This allows the family to focus on the medical reports and keeping contact with the doctors and the embassy.

Dávid a Dominikai Köztársaságba ment, hogy kite surf oktatóként dolgozzon. A járvány miatt a hazautazása bonyolulttá vált, úgy döntött, hogy a vírus lassulását ott várja ki.
Légző gyakorlatokat kezdett végezni egy medencében ellenőrzött körülmények között, hogy később az óceánban búvárkodhasson. Az egyik edzésen a társai észrevették, hogy nem jött fel időben, elvesztette az eszméletét. Kimentették, újraélesztették és hívták a mentőt. A kórházban mesterséges kómába helyezték, hogy lelassítsák a szervezetét, és lélegeztető gép pótolta a hiányzó tüdőkapacitását, ekkor a tüdeje 25%-a volt ép.
Dávid még mindig eszméletlen és kezelés alatt áll, az eredményei biztatóak, és lassan visszahozhatják a mesterséges kómából. A kórház először egy 4500 eurós majd egy 23000 eurós kezelési előleget kért. A biztosító visszautasította a költségek megtérítését. A magyar fizetésekhez képest ezek hatalmas költségek. A helyi konzulátus segítségével kapcsolatba léptek egy helyi ügyvéddel, ő segít a kórházi költségek követésében és a tételek monitorozásában.
A család ezt az adománygyűjtést azért kezdte, hogy fedezze az alábbi költségeket:
- a kórházi költségeket a Dominikai Köztársaságban
- a hazautaztatás költségeit
- az ügyvédi költségeket
- és a később rehabilitációja költségeit
Minden segítségért és adományért nagyon hálásak vagyunk. Frissíteni fogjuk a projektet a gyógyulása részleteivel. Fiatal, erős fiú, bízunk a mihamarabbi gyógyulásában.
Mire használtuk az eddig befolyt összeget?
- elutaltunk 11900 eurót, hogy fedezzük a második terhelés egy részét
Mi a következő lépés?
- nem sokára összegyűlik a második terhelés teljes összege
Kik vagyunk?
Az adománygyűjtést négyen szervezzük: Dávid bátyja Zoltán, a sógornője Agnéta, a férjem Miklós, és én, Anna. Közeli barátok vagyunk, a fiúk már egészen kis koruk óta együtt sportolnak és utaznak. A gyűjtés szervezését azért irányítjuk első sorban mi, mert a GoFundMe platform Magyarországon nem elérhető, míg Spanyolországból, ahol mi lakunk, igen. A másik ok pedig, hogy ezzel is segítsük a családot. Amíg mi foglalkozunk a kezelés pénzügyi oldalával, nekik több idejük marad az orvosokkal és a konzulátussal való kapcsolattartásra.
