What happened when two men, David Roundsley and David Lars Chamberlain, met online later in life? Looking for a connection when both their lives were at a transitional point, not only did they meet someone, but for both, it turned out to be The One, with a bond that endured right up until David Lars Chamberlain’s passing February 3, 2026.
During their almost 28 years together, they’ve traveled, had adventures, and explored the world around them. Neither of them could have foreseen that David would be struck down with not one, not two, but three aggressive cancers. None of the cancers were detected or diagnosed until the very end…
And that gets us to the “why” of the GoFundMe: David Roundsley has been left with a debilitating amount of debt, as David Chamberlain, now gone, was the primary breadwinner. David Roundsley is going from four sources of income to one. David Chamberlain's pension, Social Security and consulting income are gone. Now, David Roundsley is left with one income -- and that is his Social Security. This leaves David Roundsley with a significantly smaller monthly income.
But the debt is still here.
The genesis of the debt started back in the early 2000’s.
David Chamberlain received a call that his Aunt Glenna was in the hospital. The doctor explained that Glenna had a very advanced case of Alzheimer’s, they were putting her on hospice care, and he didn’t anticipate her lasting more than two to three weeks.
David looked online and found an incredibly nice care facility where Glenna would be comfortable during her last few weeks. Those “few weeks” turned into three + years. At a cost of $6,000 a month, just for the basics, there were a lot of
incidentals.
Also, during this three-year period, David’s consulting work became patchy. As a result, to keep things afloat, IRS payments lapsed.
After Glenna passed, David’s father became ill. David went to Arizona to be with him and his mother, and again, work fell by the wayside. His father passed away at the start of the year in 2009, but David stayed a few more months to get his
mother settled.
Unfortunately, the loss of her husband, after being together for 60+ years, started her own health decline. David tried to find help to keep her in her home but after more than a year and quite a bit of financial expenditure, David moved his
mother to Southern California to live with his brother, while he shut the house down. The real estate market at that time was bad and the sale of the home amounted to almost nothing.
Months after moving in with his brother, David’s mother fell and broke her hip. This, as with Glenna, was an almost three-year journey before David’s mother passed. More debt was accrued in supporting her during that time.
David and David willingly gave up much in support of their family. Your help in getting the debt cleared up is much appreciated.
The GoFundMe campaign will help David Roundsley get back on his feet and live with his life dignity. If David Chamberlain were alive, he would not be in this dire predicament.
I implore that you give as much as you feel comfortable with.
Thank you...
