Help David Rebuild His Life After a Devastating House Fire

Story:

My name is Heather, and I’m fundraising for my son, David.

Last year, David was a passenger in a serious vehicle accident that changed his life. Before the accident, he was financially responsible, independent, and never asked anyone for help. Since then, he has been living with family while recovering from both physical and emotional injuries. It has been an incredibly difficult year for him, and he has worked so hard to regain even a small sense of independence.

This week, he made a big step—he moved everything he owned into a friend’s house so he could begin rebuilding his life.

Yesterday, that house caught fire.

It is a total loss.

There is no insurance.

And David has lost absolutely everything he owned.

He now has only a few items of clothing. No bed, no furniture, no computer, no blankets, no personal belongings—nothing. After everything he has already survived this year, this has been emotionally crushing for him and heartbreaking for our family. He went to the house hoping to salvage even one thing, but there was nothing left to recover.

We are asking for help to raise $5,000 to replace basic necessities and help him start over, including:

• Clothing

• Hygiene and everyday essentials

• Furniture

• Bedding and blankets

• A computer and other personal items he lost

• Items he will need when he eventually moves again

As a family, we are overwhelmed. David is not someone who ever asks for anything, but this situation is more than we can manage alone. Any support—big or small—would mean the world to us and would help him cope with the trauma and stress of losing everything so suddenly.
