Help David live and walk again.
In 2017 David and his wife, Carolina took the difficult decision to leave their home in Venezuela, escaping the humanitarian crisis to look for the opportunity of a safer life in Mexico, where David’s father was born.
David, being an Agricultural Pilot, with over 40 years of experience, started working in Mochis de Sinaloa. But things were exceedingly difficult, so the couple moved to Guanajuato, and then back to Mochis, always facing great hardship. Finally, in April 2020, life seemed to lighten up a little. David was able to obtain Mexican citizenship and work started to get better. Back in Guanajuato, he started flying more and their lives started to take a turn for the better.
Until July 25, 2020.
After various flights, it was about midmorning, David was spraying a field near La Romita. The field was surrounded by High Tension Electrical cables. His plane collided with the Power cables and he lost control due to the extremely violent impact. His seatbelts did not hold, and he was ejected from the crashing plane, losing his helmet as well. For some miracle there was no fire. The locals were quickly on the scene, calling an ambulance, which transported David to the nearest medical center in La Romita, where the first X rays were taken, and the first stiches given to his face. Then he was sent off to the General Hospital in Guanajuato. After an extensive evaluation, the diagnostic was severe: both legs had been affected. His left Calf was fractured at the Fibula, and the worst: A Pelvic Dislocation with damage to the right acetabulum (the socket of the hipbone into which the femur head fits). On July 30th David underwent several surgeries.
After 3 long months in bed, under the constant care of his wife, Carolina, he was able to start rehab in October, now in a wheelchair. But his surgeons, both specialists in Traumatology, advised David about the extremely high possibility (40%) of developing complications and arthrosis. Unfortunately, the odds were not in David’s favor, in December of 2020 David’s health quickly began to deteriorate. Diagnosed with a progressive degeneration of the Head of the Femur (Avascular Necrosis), David is now experiencing excruciating pain, and is back in bed, not being able to move or even to sit up. He urgently requires a pelvic prosthesis. Failing to undergo this procedure could cost him his life.
David has lost his job, his mobility and is in danger of losing his life.
David and his wife and only caregiver, Carolina are currently facing already high medical bills, upcoming surgery, rehab, which will lead to more medical bills, and not to mention rent and day to day living expenses. Due to his injuries the couple has been unable to work which has left them overwhelmed and in need of help.

En 2017 David y su esposa Carolina tomaron la difícil decisión de abandonar su tierra natal, Venezuela, huyendo de la crisis humanitaria y trasladándose a México, país natal del padre de David, en búsqueda de una vida mejor.
David, en su calidad de piloto agrícola, con más de 40 años de experiencia, comenzó a trabajar en Los Mochis de Sinaloa. Pero las dificultades eran extremas y se trasladaron a Guanajuato y luego de regreso de Sinaloa, siempre tratando de mejorar su precaria situación. Finalmente, en abril del 2020, la vida pareció comenzar a sonreírles un poco. En esta oportunidad David obtuvo la nacionalidad mexicana y su condición laboral comenzó también a mejorar. De regreso en Guanajuato, comenzaron a aumentar los contratos y sus vidas empezaron a dar un vuelco para mejor.
Hasta el fatídico 25 de Julio.
Habiendo efectuado varios vuelos, ya a media mañana, David se encontraba fumigando un campo cercano al sector de La Romita. Dicho campo se encuentra rodeado de cables de alta tensión. Su avión se impactó con los cables, causando que David perdiera el total control terminando en un violento impacto. Sus cinturones de seguridad no pudieron retenerle y David salió expulsado de la nave, cayendo junto a los restos del avión, además de perder también su casco de seguridad. Milagrosamente no hubo fuego. Los habitantes de la localidad acudieron rápidamente y llamaron una ambulancia la cual trasladó a David inicialmente al centro médico de La Romita, donde le efectuaron las primeras radiografías y dieron sutura a las heridas del rostro. Seguidamente fue trasladado al Hospital General de Guanajuato. Luego de una extensa evaluación el diagnostico fue grave: ambas piernas se habían visto comprometidas. Con fractura de la pantorrilla izquierda en el peroné y, peor aún: una luxación pélvica derecha con daño en el acetábulo derecho (la cavidad del hueso pélvico en la que encaja la cabeza del fémur). El 30 de Julio David fue sometido a un par de intervenciones en ambas fracturas.
Después de 3 largos meses en cama, bajo el cuidado constante de su esposa Carolina, en Octubre David pudo comenzar a acudir a ejercicios de rehabilitación ya en silla de ruedas. Pero sus cirujanos, ambos especialistas en Traumatología, ya le habían advertido de la altísima posibilidad (40%) de que pudiera desarrollar complicaciones y artrosis. Desafortunadamente las cosas no estaban a favor de David y, en diciembre del 2020 la salud de David comenzó a deteriorarse rápidamente. Diagnosticado con la degeneración progresiva de la cabeza del fémur (Necrosis Avascular), David está de regreso en cama, con dolores extremos, sin poder movilizarse ni sentarse. David necesita urgentemente una prótesis pélvica. De no someterse a esta nueva cirugía, David podría comprometer y hasta perder su vida.
David ha perdido su trabajo, su movilidad y está corriendo el peligro de perder también su vida.
David y su esposa y única cuidadora, Carolina, se ven ante el compromiso de tener que pagar altas cuentas médicas, la nueva cirugía, rehabilitación y más cuentas médicas, sin mencionar los gastos de alquiler, alimentación y vida diaria. Debido a sus heridas, David y Carolina no están en condiciones de salir a trabajar para poder cubrir sus gastos, quedando así a merced de la benevolencia de sus amigos.
