After more than 6,000 days—nearly 17 years—wrongfully detained in a Chinese prison, Pastor David Lin finally returned home to California on September 15, 2024.

For decades, David traveled back and forth to China, spreading the gospel, helping people in need, and building churches—without incident. He dedicated his life to serving others and sharing God’s word. But in 2006, he was wrongfully detained and convicted of contract fraud—charges Chinese authorities often use against church leaders.

Throughout his imprisonment, he never wavered in his faith in God, love for his family, and deep patriotism. He missed weddings, birthdays, and two decades of life with those he loved, yet he remained steadfast in his belief that one day, he would be free.

David has committed his life to God and serving others. Even while imprisoned, he advocated for better treatment of fellow Americans detained in China, showing compassion and courage despite his own suffering.

David’s release is a testament to the power of faith, advocacy, and perseverance. The U.S. government fought for years to bring him home, raising his case in meetings with Chinese officials. David's case received extensive media coverage and drew international attention to the Chinese government's persecution of Christians and wrongful detentions of Americans.

Now, after enduring years of isolation and hardship, he is back on American soil, reunited with his family, and eager to spread the gospel and serve his community once again.

But David is starting over with nothing. He returned home with just the clothes on his back. Due to his long detention, he does not qualify for full Social Security benefits, making it difficult for him to cover basic expenses. He has bills to pay, recovery and healing to undergo, and a life to rebuild after this unimaginable ordeal.
