On Friday, September 22, I got the call no one ever wants to hear: “Your dad fell off the roof and is being life-flighted.”
In an instant, everything changed. Dad suffered a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and fractures in two places in his back. Six days later, he endured an eight-hour surgery where doctors repaired a previous surgery, added rods, pins, and plates, and stabilized his spine. After surgery, he spent another week in the ICU — charming the nurses and making sure they stayed on their toes.
Today, Dad is in the Powell Wing of Methodist Hospital (Room 562) working hard to recover from his injuries. He can’t sit up on his own yet, but with help he’s been able to sit in a chair — a huge step in the right direction. Current goals are pain manegment, regain strenth and control the vertigo keeping him down. After that, the next big step will be inpatient rehab to help him walk again.
We are so grateful he’s alive and still joking with us, but the road ahead will be long and costly. Travel expenses, lost income (from flea markets and Corey’s time away from his business), and rehab bills will add up quickly. If you know Mom and Dad, you know they are always the first to lend a hand, share a laugh, and show up for others. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.
Your donations will help cover:
Medical and rehab expenses not covered by insurance
Household bills while Dad recovers
Travel costs to and from the hospital
Any amount helps — whether it’s a donation, sharing this page, or sending prayers and encouragement. Thank you for helping Dad get back on his feet — firmly on the ground where we plan to keep him!
