I never thought in a million years I'd have to make something like this. But here we are. On December 9th at 4:53, David texted me that he was on his way home... He has yet to make it home.
Unfortunately, a car turned left in front of him while he was on the motorcycle and caused him to hit her car so hard with his body that he left a body imprint on the car and then he was thrown 30-40 feet.
We are so thankful that he is alive, but he has a long recovery ahead of him and will be out of work for an unknown amount of time. His left foot was degloved, left posterior knee dislocation requiring an external fixator on for 6-8 weeks, left clavicle fracture, and 3 broken ribs. He is completely non-weight bearing on his left leg and foot. He has had 3 surgeries so far and will be having at least one more on the knee once some scar tissue forms around the knee.
He is currently in an inpatient rehab learning how to transfer, shower, and dress himself in addition to aggressive physical therapy. He's hoping to be home by Christmas.
It's crazy how your world stops when something like this happens, but truly, life continues with its demands despite the tragedy you've encountered.
Anything will help, even just thoughts and prayers. David enjoys reading the encouraging messages everyone has sent so far. He is determined to get through this and make a full recovery!
Him coming home will be the greatest Christmas gift I could ask for!
