Our macrophotography community is rallying together to support one of its most valued members after a devastating theft.

Last night David's car was broken into outside of his home as he slept. Years of carefully collected gear equipment he relied on to document, and share jaw-dropping macro moments was taken in an instant. And not only his camera equipment but his Passport and hardrives full of recent photos!

For those who know him as close as I do, this loss goes far beyond material equipment. It was essential to his work and mental health. Replacing professional camera gear is incredibly expensive, and the financial burden is life altering.

David is a pillar of our macrophotography community. He has generously shared his knowledge live on Tv for BBC, supported fellow photographers, mentored newcomers, and travelled remote areas of the world documenting tiny bugs for our viewing pleasure. His passion and willingness to give back have made a lasting impact on his 115,000 followers, and on a personal note he is the closest thing I have to a brother and has mentored me through my own challenging times. He is far too modest to ask for any help so I am setting this Crowdfunder up on his behalf.

I know you’re asking why would you leave camera in a car overnight without contents insurance? It was hidden in the boot completely out of sight inside a blocked off compartment. We believe this may have been a premeditated strike with keys cloned as there is no forced entry or smashed windows. We cannot undo what has been done, only learn from our mistakes.

I’m asking friends, fellow photographers, family members, and anyone who believes in supporting good people through difficult times to contribute whatever they can. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward replacing the stolen camera gear and helping David get back behind the lens as soon as possible.

The amount we are trying to raise does not even cover half of the equipment that was stolen such as a bird lens, landscape lens, high speed SD cards, passport, camera bag, half a dozen spare batteries, 3 diffusers, tactical torches, the list goes on - But this can get him back on his feet with the core equipment needed for Macro.
