(Valerie Being silly with her Hair)
I miss you so much I love you!
Rest easy, I wished you where
still with us.

My name is David. My sister was in a car accident on the 215 Freeway. The vehicle she was in struck a guardrail when she was in a car late at night. Her name is Valerie Martinez. She was thrown out of her vehicle due to the nature of the crash. Absolutely horrific. She was beautiful; she was a role model, a hard worker, and just a giving person, even willing to risk getting fired at her job trying to feed homeless people. She unfortunately did not make it and passed away at the scene of the accident while on the road. Thank you to the amazing and brave souls who put their lives at risk trying to do compressions on her while she was not moving.

I am starting this GoFundMe to raise money for her funeral costs. I can’t afford it on my own. I am a foster youth who is just barely making it through my life's journey. I have a broken family that is trying to come together to serve Valerie right at the last moments of goodbye. I can’t believe I lost her. This is affecting all of us as a community and a family, and I want her to have her own burial, a place where I can visit to give her flowers. I love my sister, and I will always love her. She was so kind and funny, loved by her coworkers, her friends, and family.

Please help me put her at peace if you can. I have never done this before, and I never expected this in my life. She was only 24 years old, and she died so young on August 16 at 12:30 a.m. in 2026.

Thank you. Love your family. Always hug them and kiss them, and always say I love you on a phone call, in person, or over video. You just never know what might happen. I know we don't all plan things like this; death is something we don't plan. What we can plan is how we would love each other now and how we can heal with all of us. She was taken away from us too soon a beautiful soul.
