For David- Walk with Me through Recovery

Donation protected

I broke my arm. The impact of my body weight hitting the ground from a three foot height broke my arm.  I fell over on my bicycle as I was balancing and pushing off from the curb going uphill. Did I say that I'm in San Francisco? Been here since Jan 4, broke the arm Jan 10, surgery Jan 29.  I'm here to begin a contract at Stanford Health, but everything changed that Sunday afternoon.  My surgeon says 2-3 months to full recovery, and as a travel nurse, there are no light duty contracts.

My insurance through work will end on Jan 31. I'm looking into COBRA coverage for February. I receive no PTO, sick days, FMLA, or disability benefits. My rent here is paid through Feb 4, so I cannot stay beyond next week.   I will have no income for the next 3 months at least. I will stay with certain of my children while home, and will have to rely on their generosity for most of what I'll need. My wife is retired and disabled so she relies on me to pay the expenses there in Richmond while I am on the road.

I have a friend of my nephew coming to transport my car to Richmond.
That's $1400 (which is less than if someone came out here, helped me pack the car, and helped me drive back home.) Hopefully, he won't lose anything or need more money for whatever reason. I've got a way home already; going to mail myself parcel post, like Henry "Box" Brown.
COBRA money will be $550.
Rent for Jan and Feb,
Money to cover day in and day out, gas, food, bills
Bankruptcy payment (more on that later.)
Dental bill

These are the immediate needs in order to return to Richmond and have some sense of hope that the remaining 2-3 months will hold to some plan of action. Once I get situated at home, I'll post an update once I have a sense of what will be needed during the next phase of this journey

Nothing happening to me more than anything that can happen to anyone. It's as if I'm in the Perfect Storm at this time of my life. And if you're helping someone already, just send me some prayer and positive thoughts.  Thank you so much! Here's to hope in the New Year!
