David Ekanem, cherished tennis teacher, is known for his skill and positive approach to teaching students of all ages. He has coached hundreds of students during the past 30 years and is always a friendly face at the tennis courts by Lafayette Elementary in Washington DC. Many know him through his teaching and his enthusiastic greetings to friends and neighbors.
On January 11, David suddenly collapsed and was rushed to Fairfax hospital. He had suffered a stroke requiring immediate brain surgery and stay in the ICU. He is still currently hospitalized and is undergoing tests, while doing therapy to help with paralysis of his right side and difficulty speaking.
David’s skills as a teacher and his ability to make everyone feel special are two of his outstanding qualities. He has helped to build self-confidence (along with tennis skills) in numerous students.
David will be off the courts and not teaching for the foreseeable future. We are hoping to help David and his wife Hania with the significant financial challenges they are facing as he can not work. We hope you will consider making a donation to a wonderful human being, David Ekanem.
Thank you!
