Help David Jackson & His Dad Bruce Make It Through

If you’re from Screven, Georgia, then you probably know David Jackson — or at least know of him. He’s one of those people who makes an impression wherever he goes. Before life turned upside down, you could often find him hanging out at the Friendly Express, chatting with workers, smiling at everyone who came through. He’s just one of those people with a good heart and a kind soul.

But the past couple of years have been incredibly hard for David and his dad, Bruce. They’re going through more than most people could ever imagine — and they need a little help from the people who care about them.

A Horrible Car Wreck

About two years ago, David was in a terrible car accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Since then, he’s needed full-time care. His dad, Bruce Jackson, is 77 years old and has chronic health issues of his own, but he stepped up without hesitation to be David’s caregiver — physically, emotionally, and financially.

With time, therapy, and support from home health, David made some real progress. He even started regaining feeling in his legs and was beginning to take steps again. Things were looking up.

Then Cancer Hit

Just as things started to get better, David was diagnosed with bone cancer in his jaw — squamous cell carcinoma. In order to save his life, doctors had to do a major surgery in Savannah.

They had to:
• Take out part of his jawbone, muscle, and tissue
• Remove bone and muscle from his arm to rebuild his jaw
• Take tissue and muscle from his leg to repair his arm

The surgery took 12 hours. David’s been in the hospital recovering ever since.

Back in the Hospital — Again

Just a few days ago, David had a setback. He spiked a very high fever and his blood pressure dropped dangerously low. He had to be re-admitted to the hospital, and doctors are still running tests to figure out what’s going on.

This has made things even harder on Bruce, who’s been driving back and forth from Screven to Savannah every day — sometimes twice a day — just to be with his son.

☢️ What’s Still Ahead

Once David is stable enough to go home, he’ll need to start six weeks of daily radiation treatments in Brunswick, GA. That’s a long drive — every single day — and Bruce will be the one to take him.

Bruce is doing everything he can for his son, but at nearly 80 years old, this is a lot to handle. Gas money, hospital bills, medical supplies, food — it’s all piling up fast.

How You Can Help

David and Bruce aren’t the type to ask for help. But right now, they could really use it. They’ve already gotten so much love from the Screven community, and they’re incredibly thankful — but there’s still a long road ahead.

If you’re able to donate, even just a little, it would go toward:
• Gas and travel to and from Savannah and Brunswick
• Medical bills and recovery supplies
• Everyday needs like groceries, bills, and medications
• Helping Bruce keep going as David’s full-time caregiver

Final Thoughts

David is truly one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. And Bruce is the definition of a loving, devoted father. They’ve both been through so much — and they’re still fighting.

Whether you can give, pray, or just share this page, thank you. Every little bit helps. Let’s show them they’re not alone in this ❤️
