My fight for life has me looking for hope in the kindness of strangers.

My name is David, and at just 44 years old, my life was turned upside down. I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 Pulmonary Sarcoidosis, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Emphysema and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) — these devastating, progressive conditions make it difficult for me to do daily tasks that we often take for granted.

The simplest daily activities have become overwhelming. walking across the room, eating a meal, even laughing or trying to hug a loved one, has now become a struggle as my lung capacity is sadly down to 15%.

Alone in the Fight

When I needed support most, my partner walked away. In the hardest chapter of my life I face endless appointments, treatments, and uncertain tomorrows without her support. Despite this heartbreak and fear, I continue to fight with quiet courage holding on to hope and refusing to let my spirit be defeated.

My path to survival requires urgent treatments to control my condition, the first step toward being eligible for a lung transplant. Treatments are expensive and demanding and I cannot walk this road without help. I know my journey ahead is difficult with costly, exhausting treatments that require extensive recovery times and support. During which I will need care, support, and assistance I cannot provide for myself and it is too much for just my Mum who ,at her age, has to travel so far. Bless her she has been travelling back and forth from another state, helping as much as she can, financially and physically, truly I wouldn't have made it this far without her.
