Hi, I’m David Basile, and I still need your help.

I’ve been living in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, for over a year, but six months ago I got extremely sick — and instead of getting better, things only got worse.

What started as what doctors thought was food poisoning turned out to be multiple kidney stones, gastritis, and colitis. I’ve been through rounds of antibiotics, anti-parasitic medication, and specialist visits, but my symptoms have continued to get more severe.

Now I’m struggling with trouble breathing, dizziness, a swollen abdomen, constant pain, and bloody stools. Some days I can barely stand without feeling faint. The pain and exhaustion have taken away my sleep, my appetite, and my ability to work.

I’ve had to take medical leave from my online job, and without insurance, the cost of tests, treatments, and medications has drained all my savings. My family and fiancée’s family have helped all they can — but now I’m out of options.

I need more tests and treatment to figure out what’s happening to my body and to recover before things get worse.
