Help David Attack Cancer
Donation protected
With sincere humility we ask friends, family, and members of the community to help our son David during a difficult time. David started to have minor aches and pains. Thinking like most of us they would subside on their own, so he just kept on with his work week. When the pains were getting worse he went to the MAC center where they did some testing and found fluid in his pericardial sack. Being a young and healthy 35 year old no one could have imagined what would come next. From the MAC center he went to Mercy hospital to have the fluid drained. The health professionals were shocked, they reportedly removed what was equivalent to “3 coke cans” of fluid in his pericardial sack around his heart. After that procedure was completed, his doctors assumed the fluid was a response from a previous illness. He did recently have a respiratory infection so that set our minds at ease. Unfortunately his doctors found a mass in the space around his heart where the fluid had accumulated. We still stayed positive hoping it was benign. Instead of a biopsy they decided to remove the tumor. After the removal we found out it was 9cm mass, his cardiologist confirmed it definitely was malignant but was unable to identify exactly what we were dealing with, so we waited on pathology. Pathology reports came back that the tumor was not only cancerous but an aggressive very rare form of cancer called a synovial sarcoma. Once discharged from Mercy Hospital we opted to get multiple opinions on treatment. Since hospitals in Texas, New York City, Cleveland and Rochester had the same protocol for his form of cancer we decided to go to Roswell. David has to do 6 rounds of inpatient chemotherapy. The tumor is out but they need to eradicate any possibility of it being in his body. The chemo consists of being admitted to Roswell for 2 nights while they administer the chemo and watch him closely for side effects. After 3 weeks the process is repeated. As I type this he is beginning his 6th round. Recovering from surgery, side effects from chemo, and the risk of him getting sick have kept him out of work . David was very reluctant about doing this but has come to realize that he is in need of some assistance as he continues to heal. His main focus is getting himself healthy again. After all life has thrown at him he still has a smile on his face and a positive attitude, as usual. A lot of people have reached out to him asking if they can help which is why we created this. Even if you can't donate simply sharing his message is a generous help to us. He has been there for all of us at some point. Maybe to dye your hair or help you to decide on interior design or an outfit. It would be nice to be there for him during such a difficult time. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
