Greetings Facebook Friends,
While my family in Florida escaped Hurricanes Helene and Milton unharmed, Rocco's grandparents (David and Debi) lost their cars, and their family-run small business, DD Collectables, suffered substantial loss.
DD Collectables is a well-known staple in the St. Petersburg area. DD's been around for decades, drawing professional athletes and high-profile musicians alike. Many moons ago I dubbed DD the "Anti-Tourist Trap," because that's exactly what it was. From a Beatles piece with all four signatures, signed sporting goods, and one-of-a-kind memorabilia, DD has everything all the other novelty stores don't. My favorite in-house celebrity photo is Rocco's mom, Keljean, with Page and Mike of Phish.
David and Debi have dedicated their lives to DD Collectables. From working out of a trunk to operating a retail store at John's Pass, they exemplify living "The American Dream." Unfortunately, Helene & Milton shattered their dream, but they didn't destroy it.
That said, I humbly ask you to help David and Debi keep their dream alive. Starting over in their mid-seventies will not be an easy task. The recovery effort is arduous and heartbreaking, to say the least. As of now, they have to borrow a car and make daily trips to salvage and store whatever they can until they find a new location.
Please help me make it a little bit easier for them.
Thank you.
