For David

David, my brother, is facing the hardest moment of his life after the sudden passing of his wife, Michele. Just two weeks ago, Michele was traveling with family for a celebration of life for a loved one when she became seriously ill. She was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia and sepsis, and in just a matter of days everything changed. David was in Washington working his trucking route when he got the call, and the shock gave him no time to prepare. Michele’s condition worsened rapidly, and by Friday, David had lost his best friend and partner of 19 years. They had just celebrated their 19th anniversary in May. They were truly 2 peas in a pod, doing their best to build a life together after losing everything in Hurricane Ian in 2022.

After the hurricane, David and Michele started over from nothing, living in an RV and saving for a home while working hard to make ends meet. Michele worked part time as a stylist, and David has been working as a trucker for the past year. They had no emergency savings and no life insurance to help with a loss like this. This fundraiser is to help David with the immediate costs following Michele’s passing as he tries to navigate this heartbreaking new reality on his own.
