My name is Davell Johnson, and I am writing to express my urgent need for support. Having grown up in group homes and foster care from the age of seven, I have never had a place to call my own. When I left the system at eighteen, I returned to my family, but our relationship was strained. My mother remains distant, and I have struggled to maintain employment and provide for myself. My life has been a constant struggle, beginning with a near-fatal car accident at the age of three. This experience has left me feeling as though I have been fighting to survive every day. The loss of my older brother, who was a source of inspiration and support, has further exacerbated my feelings of loss. I have experienced homelessness, often resorting to washing up in fast food bathrooms, and have felt like giving up. However, for the sake of my thirteen-year-old son, Jordan, who has autism, I have persevered. His mother left when he was three, and I have done my best to care for him, even when it has meant seeking assistance from family members. Now, at the age of thirty-two, I recognize that it is time to seek help from the community to provide a stable home for Jordan and myself. The funds raised will be allocated towards a down payment on a house, moving costs, furniture, appliances, clothing, and shoes for both of us, as well as a PlayStation 4 for Jordan. My desire is to be a role model for my son, someone who has overcome adversity with the support of a compassionate community. I am exhausted, but I remain hopeful for a better future. I implore you to have mercy on us and support our quest for a place to call home. Your assistance would be a blessing, and I am grateful in advance for your consideration. God bless you all.
