From Jemima & David: Our Story......
David and I, both from Melbourne, met 11years ago and quickly fell in love. While he was only 19, and myself 20, we quickly built a life together and worked hard to support ourselves through university and our first jobs.
We loved spending time camping and 4x4 driving, and I even managed to convince David to take some overseas trips. After 8.5years, David FINALLY proposed at the Taj Mahal in India.
With our fur baby Bronte (who we couldn't love more if we tried!), we began planning our life together, our future, children, a house.

But these dreams were not to be, In the first week of June, David went away for a work trip. We missed each other, and he was looking forward to flying directly up to Noosa for a quick holiday together at the conclusion of his work commitments.
Around 2hours into our get away, the rest of our lives were changed forever. David tried to say something to me which came out making no sense. Upon trying again we realised something was very wrong. David then lost all speech and the movement on the right side of his body, and we knew the situation required urgent medical care.
The remainder of the night was horrific. David, only aged 30, had suffered a severe bleed on the left side of his brain, caused by the bursting of an AVM (which was undiagnosed) . He underwent emergency neuro surgery in Brisbane, was placed into an induced coma, and put on life support in critical condition, with an unknown prognosis.
We spent 1.5weeks in the ICU and on life support before David opened his eyes.
2 weeks since the stroke, David remains on the neurological ward in Brisbane. Davids stroke has caused speech aphasia and right side immobility. We have many months of rehabilitation and recovery to come.
Our lives have been put on hold. We really want to get home to Melbourne. I want to provide David with the life he dreamed of, with a family, and with a home to call our own.
Please support David on his new, life-long journey. The path may not be what we had planned, but we must walk it in the best way we can.

David, who is just 30 years old from Melbourne, was on a short holiday in Noosa with his fiance Jemima, when the stroke occurred. Jemima, as well as Dave's family will remain with him in Brisbane until he is stable enough to transfer home. Jemima and their families have had to finance their own accommodation and living expenses whilst having no financial benefits or income.
Both Jemima and David are in for a long road ahead. The couple live outside of Melbourne and as such Jemima will be looking to stay closer to David, who will be needing to undertake a long and unpredictable road in rehab and care.
We are seeking to raise as much financial support for both David and his family at this current and difficult time. In particular we are looking to take some of the financial burden off his fiance Jemima as she remains by his side.
Any financial support you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
