Dear Friends and Family, It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Dave “Shizzle” Reid’s passing. On July 30th, 2024, at 9:52 am, Dave’s life was tragically cut short in a motorcycle accident. Dave was not just a name; he was an institution in our lives, a beacon of generosity and dedication, and his impact on our world cannot be overstated. Known affectionately as "Shizzle," Dave was a devoted single father raising four incredible children: his eldest at 29, his twins at 21, and his youngest at 17. Despite facing significant challenges, including a battle with cancer while living on disability, Dave never let his circumstances define him. His love and dedication to his children were unwavering. He was their rock, their guide, and their greatest supporter, always making sure they felt cherished and secure.
For over 30 years, Dave was an avid motorcycle rider. His passion for motorcycles was more than a hobby; it was a way for him to relieve stress and find joy. Whether cruising down the open road or working on bikes in his workshop, the world of motorcycles was where Shizzle felt truly alive. His mechanical prowess and his knack for fixing or building anything that came his way earned him respect and admiration from everyone who knew him. From repairing boats and building houses to tackling plumbing and construction projects, Shizzle’s skills were limitless. His workshop and toolbelt were his sanctuary, where he could turn any challenge into a triumph. He took immense pride in his work, always eager to share his expertise and lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors.
He was a pillar of support for the local high school football team, where his involvement went beyond just cheering from the stands. He was often found on the sidelines, lending his time to provide invaluable encouragement to the players. His commitment to the team was a testament to his belief in fostering community spirit and supporting the next generation.
Dave’s presence in our lives was like a warm embrace. He had a unique way of making everyone feel special, and his selflessness was a beacon for us all. Whether you knew him as a mechanic, a mentor, or just a friend, you knew you could always count on Dave.
As we navigate this profound loss, we are reaching out to our community to honor Shizzle’s memory and support his family during this challenging time. We have started this GoFundMe campaign to help cover the immediate costs associated with Dave’s passing, including funeral expenses, burial costs, and ongoing house expenses. Additionally, we seek to provide for his youngest child, who is still in high school and lived at home with Dave, ensuring he has the support and stability he needs during this difficult time. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. Your support will help the Reid family as they adjust to life without Dave and ensure that they have the resources they need during this difficult time. Let’s come together to celebrate the remarkable man he was and keep his spirit alive through our acts of kindness and generosity.
Thank you for your love, support, and for helping us remember and honor Dave “Shizzle” Reid.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Kevon Thompson
