I am a self-employed musician who plays piano and sings at several churches each week, and I also bring music to at least ten retirement homes—including memory care units—every month. In addition, I play weekly at a local speakeasy in San Jose’s Little Italy, taking song requests and creating joyful moments for the community. As a Dueling Pianos performer, I travel throughout the Bay Area, Southern California, and Lake Tahoe, sharing music and connecting with people from all walks of life.

My eyesight is essential to my work, as I need to read lyrics and music every day to make a living. Recently, I was diagnosed with cataracts, and my vision has been deteriorating at an accelerating pace. The cataracts have also made it dangerous for me to drive after dark, which is something I need to do regularly for my performances. My doctor has told me I’ll need cataract surgery within the next few months. The cost of the surgery is significant, and I will also need to take at least one to two weeks off from work to recover, which adds to the financial strain.

I’m not used to asking for help, and it’s uncomfortable for me to do so. But right now, I truly need your support.
