Hi everyone, I am Sarah. I am putting this GoFundMe together to ask, more like beg for help which is very hard for me to do. I try to solve/fix everything and help everyone on my own.

This GoFundMe is to raise funds for my lifelong best friend Dave while he is out of work due to a medical emergency he experienced while visiting me in Massachusetts. The funds will go towards the unexpected medical expenses, medications, clothes, and to assist in his monthly bills back in California while he is in the hospital, and focusing on his rehabilitation and recovery in Massachusetts. He has to stay in MA until he is released from medical care and given the ok to return back to California. We won’t know for a couple weeks if he can fly or if he will have to be driven back to CA. We will cross that bridge when it’s time.

Right now we are focusing on “One Day At A Time” which is hard because he is 3500 miles from home and only knows my family and a couple of my local friends here in MA/NH.

WHAT HAPPENED:

Dave came out to Massachusetts on April 13 for a little vacation and to help me with a few needed house projects that I was unable to do myself, but would’ve cost me an arm and a leg to have a contractor do. That is his line of work and he had some time off so he offered to come help us albeit also teach us some of the easier stuff for future situations.

He started not feeling good after a couple of days but is extremely stubborn and continued to work on stuff without saying anything. Saturday I could tell something was off so Sunday we just hung out and went to see my Nana and Aunt. They even noticed he seemed to be uncomfortable but he said he was ok just needed to rest and drink more water.

Monday April 20 when he woke up he told me he needed to go to the emergency room. This had me scared because he is the guy who stitches himself up and sets his own broken bones.

After a CT scan and blood work they admitted him to the hospital. The CT scan showed that he had a 10 cm blockage/possible mass. He was sent in for an emergency procedure to try to figure out what was going on but it was unsuccessful because of the blockage. They gave us two different 2 possible outcomes. One being colon cancer, the other a really bad infection from diverticulitis. On Wednesday he was taken for surgery that was supposed to take 3 to 4 hours, unfortunately it took the surgeon’s over 8 hours. He is currently in ICU being monitored. There are things that I cannot put here but things aren’t good and as of now with what they know is going on recovery is going to take at least 6 months. We are hoping to have the pathology back Monday.

Due to him being on vacation when this happened the hospital and his insurance are at a standstill. The hospital is having a very hard time getting in contact with the appropriate people in California to contract as a provider so that they can bill the insurance company, so as of now Dave is listed as a self-pay. This is not preventing the hospital and surgeons from giving Dave the BEST care possible but it’s going to limit the at home aftercare available to him once the hospital has him stable and released to come back to my house.

He only has 3 outfits here because he was only staying for a week. With his surgery he is going to need different, softer clothes and other items. His auto pay bills are all set for this month but now that he’s out of work for 6 months he is very worried about losing everything

Please help me, help Dave. He is the guy who does everything and anything for everyone and never asks for anything in return. He is actually going to tell me he will figure it out he always does and insist I take this down but I know this is not something he can figure out. He needs to focus on recovering.
