Help Dave & Ollie Recover from Vicious Dog Attack & Medical

My name is Nora Papazian, and I am reaching out on behalf of my friend and coworker at the Elks association, Rob Lavigueur. I’m starting this fundraiser because Rob’s brother, Dave Lavigueur, and his sweet 1½-year-old Labrador Retriever Ollie, are in urgent need of our community's help.
A peaceful day by the river turned into a nightmare when Ollie was viciously attacked by four large dogs. Dave fought bravely to save him—and both were badly injured in the process. As a community, this is our chance to rally around one of our own in a time of crisis.
This campaign is being managed by me, Nora Papazian, to seek help from our community to cover the overwhelming costs of their emergency medical care.
Positive Update: Ollie Avoids Major Surgery!
We have great news to share! Ollie suffered severe trauma, including deep puncture wounds and extensive soft tissue damage. He was rushed to the emergency vet and required intense stabilization and wound care over a two-night stay.
Crucially, the vets have confirmed that Ollie will NOT need major surgery. This is a huge relief for the Lavigueur family, but his care is far from over.
Verified Cost: $8,500 so far for emergency stabilization, intensive care, and non-surgical wound treatment.
His immediate needs now involve costly follow-up care, specialized wound dressing that must be changed frequently, antibiotics to fight infection, and multiple check-ups.
Dave's Sacrifice and Critical Hand Injuries
Dave put his life at risk to save his best friend. He sustained serious bite wounds, cuts, and deep bruising all over his body. The injury to his hand is particularly severe:
Dave already has a long-standing, significant injury where his thumb is fused to his hand. Now, from fighting off the dogs, he has broken his middle finger. This has crippled the function of his hand and requires immediate follow-up care.
Despite his own serious injuries and immense pain, Dave’s only focus has been keeping Ollie comfortable and safe. The severity of his hand injuries means he cannot work while recovering and tending to Ollie.
Verified Cost: $1,200+ in personal ER visits, antibiotics, pain management, and follow-up care, plus the ongoing costs of treatment for his broken finger.
Our Goal and How We Can Help
Our initial goal of $12,000 will cover the verified emergency vet and hospital bills for Ollie, and the initial urgent care costs for Dave.
Any additional funds raised will go directly to their ongoing needs, including:
Specialized vet follow-ups, medications, and rehabilitation for Ollie.
Dave's continued medical appointments and time off work needed for his own recovery, particularly for his complex hand injury.
Let's Show the Lavigueur Family Our Support
Dave and Ollie need our community’s help to heal. The last thing he or his brother Rob should have to worry about during this stressful time is this crippling financial burden. Since I am managing this campaign, I will ensure every dollar goes directly to their care.
Please consider donating or sharing this fundraiser widely to show the Lavigueur family that their community stands with them. Every share and every dollar brings Dave and Ollie closer to recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness.
