On January 12, 2023 Dave Senat fell at work and hurt his knee. He went to the hospital for that and they said they believe it was a torn PCL. No damage was done to the bones themselves tho because they checked with an X-ray. He started wearing a stabilizing knee brace. On January 20, 2023 Dave went back the the ER (Splading) and was life flighted to Kennestone for blood clots. Wearing the knee brace is what ultimately caused the blood clots traveling to his lungs. He has what’s called bilateral pulmonary embolism. They did a procedure on Kailers (Dave and Kayla oldest son) 3rd birthday, January 21,2023, they went in through an artery by his groin to go and “vacuum” out his lungs. So they removed those blood clots and he was on a heparin drip for a couple days. He’s now on a blood thinner by mouth and will be for 3-6 months, if not longer. He still has a blood clot in his leg where he injured his knee. The blood thinners are supposed to help with that and to prevent any new ones coming up.
At this point they’re just waiting to hear exactly how long he’ll be out of work and when they’re planning to discharge him. Even with discharge there’s still a road to recovery and we’re not sure what exactly that’s going to consist of. But he’s on super light duty everything until further notice.
With all that being said, Dave has two sons and a fiancé at home who not only are worried about what Dave’s future looks like, but now they have bills piling up. We want to try and help take some of the financial strain off of them so they can focus on getting Dave better and back to his passion, plumbing.
