Help Dave Knock Out Leukemia

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, my soon to be brother in law, Dave Laguerra Jr., was diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia). As a fighter and a determined young man, we are faithful that Dave will not only rip the bandaid off and start the fight, but he will put up a fight like he’s never done before.

For those who don’t know Dave, he is the guy that signs up for a Spartan Race with no training and still knocks it out of the park. He also woke up one morning and decided to crush his goals of doing an MMA fight, and did just that. With each of these fights, he got up there determined to prove everyone wrong who doubted him, and did it!

My sister and David’s fiancée, Gabrielle Walters, is finishing her clinical rotations to become a Physician Assistant and set to graduate June 2024. At this time she is not working as she is completing this full-time program. While she is almost done with this program and excited to start her career in the Fall, her focus has shifted to support Dave throughout this journey he is about to embark.

Dave has so much life to live, including building a future with my sister, but knowing Dave and the future he has been planning, this is enough to keep him strong.

On Thursday, April 18, Dave will hopefully be starting chemotherapy treatment. He is expected to be at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan for one month, and then will need to continue treatment while in remission.
