Our community lost a historic landmark, and a beloved friend lost his livelihood. A devastating fire destroyed the historic building that housed Junion Photography on North 3rd Street. In a matter of hours, over 42 years of artistic history and irreplaceable community memories turned to ash. While Dave Junion bravely managed to save his cameras and a few personal mementos before the roof tragically collapsed, the studio he built over four decades is gone.

Even in the face of this profound loss, Dave’s immediate reaction on social media showed exactly who he is: “Many others have suffered so much more devastation than what I am going through, I will be fine… do me a favor… in the next week or so… find someone struggling… give them a hand.” That is the definition of Dave. He has always put others first. For more than 42 years, he has been behind the lens capturing our community's most precious milestones: weddings, graduations, local sports, and family portraits. He didn't just run a business; he gave back constantly, donating his time, supporting local causes, and lifting up everyone around him.

Now, it is our turn to ignore his modesty and give back to the man who has given Wausau everything. While his physical space is gone, his drive and passion remain completely untouched. Dave is ready to rebuild his 42-plus-year career, but replacing specialized studio lighting rigs, high-end editing computers, and securing a new workspace is an overwhelming financial mountain to climb. Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping Dave replace his lost studio gear and secure a new physical space so he can keep doing what he loves.
