My name is Dave, and I’m reaching out in hopes you might be willing to share my story.

I moved from New Jersey to Florida for a fresh start and to escape the daily grind. I never imagined that shortly after arriving, I would be diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure.

Due to use of prescribed medication to control my high blood pressure, my kidneys have suffered irreversible damage. Today, my kidney function is less than 5%, leaving me reliant on dialysis three days each week to stay alive.

This treatment, while life-sustaining, leaves me completely exhausted. I no longer have the strength or stamina to work. My savings have been depleted trying to cover basic living expenses, and I have been denied disability benefits three times already. despite reapplying.

Right now, my situation has gotten worse. I have lost my housing and am currently living in my car. I am about to lose my medical insurance as well. All while I wait for the government to decide whether or not I get approved for medicare.

I am struggling is to put it mildly.

I barely eat, I need gas, everyday things.

The most hopeful part of my story is that a close friend has selflessly offered to donate a kidney. However, without stable housing and no money to live off, there is no chance of me getting a transplant. the transplant team has informed me that before I can be approved for surgery, I must demonstrate that I have enough funds set aside to cover at least a year of living expenses while I recover.

Without this financial stability, I will remain dependent on dialysis indefinitely, with no realistic chance of regaining my health or independence.

I have always been the person who helped others, never expecting that I would need help myself. But I am at a point where I simply cannot do this alone. I’m left with no choice but to ask for help. I am hoping on the kindness of strangers.
