Help with Laura’s end of life expenses

As many of you know, my name is Secara. My mother, Laura Spencer has been suffering from severe COPD and Emphysema for some time now. This all started after she caught a rare form of pneumonia while her and her boyfriend Dave were visiting with his mother back in 2018 in Florida. From there she just kept catching pneumonia time after time. Having to have hospital stay after hospital stay. and each time leaving her health in worse shape than the last. After the first hospital stay in Florida, her and Dave moved to New Jersey to be near good lung doctors. After her second and third hospital stay, she was basically stuck in New Jersey. At this point Dave had put his entire life on hold to help care for our mother as she kept losing more and more of her abilities and independence as her COPD progressed.

September of 2024 we were finally able to bring her back home where her family is. Since then she started to decline rapidly. Just before Easter she had to be taken to UPMC and later starflighted to Erie Hamot hospital on a ventilator. Yesterday, April 26th, we were told she is in end stage COPD and our only options left are comfort care or a miracle. Her ph levels are turning her blood acidic, one of her lungs has extreme tissue loss, and she is no longer retaining oxygen on her own. Moving forward, my mom will be moved to a nursing home for end-of-life care. She is such a proud Nana and will be leaving behind 7 grandchildren, the youngest she has yet to meet. Her boyfriend Dave who has been by her side every second since she got sick, suffers from severe cataracts and is unable to drive or work.

We are asking for funds to help keep Dave afloat as he adjusts mentally, physically, and financially to the loss of our mother. Gas/cab fare to help Dave get back and forth to visit with her until she passes, food to eat while he is there and after life expenses and funeral costs for our mother. Any and all is appreciated, and we cannot thank you enough for your generosity through this devestating loss.
