Help Dave and Daynamarie With House Fire Expenses

Hi everyone... Nov 30

I wrote  this in October

We are still in a motel
Insurance has halted it’s been 5 weeks and there has been no activity to fix our home waiting for approval
Fave is working consistently the last 2 weeks thank you oh God
But there are still financial needs
That are slot extra because of displacement and we are not in our home
On a personal basis we are doing better each day  God is the only One that gets the Glory
The people that have given to us have been so kind and I keep you all in my prayers all of you
It’s greatly appreciated and the moneys needed and used wisely
If your heart leads you to give with a cheerful heart
May the Lord bless you and keep you may he make His  face to shine upon you and may He be Gracious to you
His peace fall upon you all the days of your life

As some of you may already know, our home caught fire on September 5, 2021, just before we were to put it up on the market on September 7th. We bought our home 21 years ago, and decided to give it a much needed remodel before selling it. Lots of time, work, and finances were poured into this home as we remodeled the bathrooms, floors, cabinets...everything, and we were so excited to finally show it to the world, when two days before the scheduled listing, a tragedy happened. Our downstairs unit with full kitchen, bathroom, and living area was completely destroyed.

I remember that day vividly. I heard my son yell, "Fire!", and when I began to run downstairs, I could smell the smoke and see that everything was ablaze. I immediately ran upstairs to get my grandson. I grabbed my backpack filled with important documents and headed out of the house to get my grandson and I to safety. My husband ran downstairs again to see how bad it was and came back up and said, "Everything is gone." By this time, the smoke was very thick and had spread up the stairs, outside the front property.

My husband told me to move the cars out of the way, and as I did that I noticed he was suddenly gone. As I was trying to concentrate on breathing and helping my grandson, my son and my husband had grabbed the hose and crawled into the blaze. The fire fighters did not come in time, and if my husband hadn't been home the damages would have been much worse. If my son hadn't yelled "Fire!" he could’ve ended up in the fire himself, along with me and my grandson. We are so grateful that none of us were injured.

My husband, David, was the one who ultimately put the fire out. The firefighters arrived afterwards. Had he not put it out when he did, there would have been significantly more damage. The firefighters were on the roof getting ready to enter the second story from above, loading the hoses in to completely water down everything and damage the upstairs part of the house. But God saved it!! David came around the corner and said "The fire's out", and the firemen commended him. It was a very, very dangerous thing that he did, but he did it and then they responded saying, "Hey you want to come work for us?". That made us laugh.....

To be honest, we were all traumatized. My husband still has panic attacks, my grandson is depressed, we are in motels, and we didn’t have enough insurance to cover the upstairs part of house. We didn’t know that until now. We do, however, have enough insurance to cover the downstairs part of the house. Although the contractors who were waiting for the house to sell after remodeling it, have yet to be paid. We praise God for everything nonetheless. This tragic event has drawn us closer as a family and to God. My husband, my grandson, my son, and I, we are alive, and we are so grateful! Life is precious.

We are humbly asking for assistance during this difficult time. The upstairs is uninhabitable as a result of extensive smoke damage. The downstairs, our freshly remodeled space, is completely destroyed from the fire. My husband has been out of work for weeks while dealing with this, and we are running out of money for motel, food, and gas back and forth to the house to meet with contractors and insurance adjusters.

Our goal is to be back in our home in time for the holidays, but we need a little extra help getting there. Would you prayerfully consider helping us get back on our feet again? Your contributions will help alleviate the stresses of everyday expenses, as well as help cover some of the costs for the repairs on our home. If God puts it upon your heart to give, we are so grateful and appreciate every penny and it will be used wisely.

As you can imagine, it was difficult for me to start a GoFundMe, but I felt the Lord wanted me to give you an opportunity to give towards us as we have so often given towards others. Sometimes it is easier to give than to receive, and this is a hard one for us, but we are doing it out of obedience. A friend recently told me, "There are many who want to give to you during this time. Let them. God wants to bless them through their giving, through their giving to you...."

The Lord bless you, and keep you, may His face shine upon you. May he be gracious to you and may His peace fall upon you all the days of your life. Thank you for supporting and praying for our family during this difficult time.

With a grateful heart for you,
Thank you so very much
David & Daynamarie
