This is a very humbling experience, but I have fallen on incredibly tough times the past two months. I have exhausted all my attempts to resolve situations by asking my small circle of family/friends, however no one was currently in the position to help us. So here I stand humbled by the series of unfortunate events that has me humbly asking for anything you can possibly do to help us.
On June 17, 2022 I moved us back to NC because of my 8 year old daughter telling me when she was 6 how sad she was because we lived in MI she was wanting to have “a normal dad that doesn’t have to take airplanes to come see me like my friends at school who lives with their dad, or they go over to their dad’s house” (my ex husband is an Army officer so because he’s still active duty, I made the sacrifice for our daughter to relocate from Michigan, and financially bore the costs of all arrangements to move to her here to NC), Over the past year she told me “Mommy I know you love me” and when I asked her how, she replied “Look around, we’re here!! We are living in NC just because of me being sad about not being able to see my daddy, and you did it just for me” In that moment I realized that she understood the enormity of sacrifice a dedicated parent will make for their child.
Presently we are slated for eviction, we live in an apartment, so the property manager could only give me until this month before having to submit the eviction filing at the courthouse, which will be done no later than Monday September 18, 2023. As of today 9/13/23 $3,130.00 (Aug 2023 & Sept 2023 rent $1,445/mo + late fees), however if they have to file for eviction at the court on 9/18/23 the legal & filing fees will be added. **Also, please note that the office confirmed today the court cost and attorney fees are $276 plus $3,130= $3,406 and my court appearance is September 22, 2023**
So that’s why I’m asking everyone who will consider helping us not to lose our home to please please help my daughter not become a victim of temporary situations becoming traumatic and mentally overwhelming due to agency delays.
After losing my job while out on a physician ordered medical leave at the end of June, I have been going through it, but thankfully the EEOC found my claim valid for a wrongful termination investigation to start. However after receiving a monetary determination of 12 weeks @ $350/weekly, no payments have been disbursed, so because I anticipated payments by August 2023, I am at my wits end with the pending eviction, seeing that I expected the normal timeframe on the Unemployment Insurance Agency’s website that stated after filing (mine July 13, 2023) they allow the employer 10 business days to respond to dispute the claim and payments will be disbursed. After July 31, 2023 I was told that they were waiting for the employer to respond to UIA. However, an agency i applied for rental assistance asked me to call while in her office and she would chime in, so on the August 22, 2023 call I was told by UIA that they were backlogged 8-10 weeks, so my claim for unemployment was dated 7/13/23, therefore keep certifying and call back after 9/25/23 to see what status of releasing my payments is at! I applied two months ago exactly today, so when payments start hopefully they will be accumulative @ $350/wk times 8= $2,800.
I’m sorry for even needing to ask, and I appreciate you taking the time to even consider no matter the decision. Humbly, W&M Phillips
